~Traveling and Recruiting in the Philippines~

Planning a visit to International School Manila? Below you will find some logistical and helpful information to help you plan your visit.

ISM typically hosts up to 90 US colleges and universities a year along with occasional visits from post-secondary institutions in Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and Switzerland. We encourage any college or university from any country that would like to visit us to contact us to schedule an appropriate day and time. If you would like to schedule a visit, please contact Jeremy Trotter at trotterj@ismanila.org

About our School and Students:
The International School Manila is operated and maintained as a non-sectarian school mainly for expatriate students residing with their families in the Philippines. The school provides a North American-based curriculum which is broadened to include curricula from other systems throughout the world. The school programs and courses are primarily for college preparation.

Additional courses as applicable and feasible are offered to broaden and enrich the school program. The language of instruction is English.

The mission of the school is embodied in its paramount aims which are to establish for its students the highest possible standard of education and to prepare its students for entrance into colleges and universities abroad.

For more details about our student body, visit our SCHOOL PROFILE.

Nuts and Bolts:

College and University reps normally visit our school and meet with our students during lunch time, which is from 11:25 am - 12:05 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 12:00 noon to 12:20 pm on a Wednesday.  Many university reps also choose to visit Brent International School, located about an hour drive from ISM. Some university reps also visit some of the local private schools such as Ateneo, Xavier and sometimes arrange public fairs at one of the hotels.

Time needed: Can visit two schools per day: one in the a.m. and one in the p.m.

How to get between around in Manila: Metro Manila is made up of thirteen cities. ISM is located in Fort Bonifacio Global City and borders on the main central business district of Makati, the most modern city in the metro area.

Taxis are easy and cheap. Taxis off the street will cost you $1-2 to get practically anywhere. Hotel taxis offer very reliable and great service although cost a bit more ($3- 5). You can also arrange to hire a hotel taxi for the entire day at affordable rates ($20- 30).

Arriving at ISM:

If you are arriving by taxi, get dropped off at gates 1 or 2. We suggest that you have the taxi wait for you as it is sometimes difficult to get one outside the school. Once you arrive, simply tell the guard that you are going to the HS Guidance Office and ask that they show you the way. Otherwise, have a look at our school map here. If you are driving or traveling in a bus, enter through gate 3. Find a parking place and make your way to the HS Guidance office.

Advice for travelers:

Hotels: ShangriLa Makati, Manila Peninsula and Intercontinental are three excellent 5- star hotels that are close by (10-15 minute drive to the school). The Dusit hotel (4 star) is a bit more economical option. All offer great accommodations and services, are in the central business district and in close proximity to International School Manila.

Eating: There is a wide range of eating choices in each hotel and also within walking distance of each. Food is safe. Water is most modern restaurants is safe. Otherwise drink bottled water.

Weather: Weather is generally hot and humid all year. Temp ranges from 25-40 C. T-shirts and shorts weather all the time! The rainy season is from June- Sept, the “cool” season from December-March and the hot season from April-June.

Extra time? The hotels are all located 2-5 minutes from a major mall and from Greenbelt area that has many modern shops and restaurants.

We would be happy to answer any other logistical questions you may have prior to your arrival. Contact Jeremy Trotter at trotterj@ismanila.com if you have any inquiries.

Mabuhay! And we look forward to seeing you on our beautiful campus.
