Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

Welcome to our PTA (Parent Teacher Association) website.  If you are new to the International School Manila (ISM), we cordially invite you to look through our website and get to know us better.  This is where you will find information about the PTA, who we are, what we do and how we can help you.  This site is updated regularly, so you can keep track of PTA events and activities. 

We have also set up our very own ISM PTA Facebook page.  This is also updated regularly and contains lots of useful information.  

The primary purpose of the PTA is:

• To provide a continuing channel of communication and to promote an atmosphere of goodwill and cooperation within ISM
• To provide the ISM community with fun and family-friendly activities and celebrations throughout the year

What does the PTA do?

• Organize fun, family friendly events. The PTA organizes community events (ex. International Family Fund Day, Bearcat Welcome, Travel Fair, Charity Bazaar, etc.) and celebrates its community through several activities like the Faculty Lunch or the Despedida.
• Leverage Volunteer Power.  The PTA coordinates hardworking, dedicated volunteers, i.e. parents who are ready to help.
• Improve Communication.The PTA frequently communicates its activities through its notice board, website, facebook page and flyers, keeping the entire school community informed of current events and issues.
• Discover More Resources. The PTA is self-funding. By participating in its various activities, parents support fundraisers for school programs, building improvements and educational events.
• Boost Children’s Well-Being.The PTA focuses on what students need to be successful in their learning. The PTA works with the school to ensure that ISM children succeed.
• Keep Parents Informed. Involved parents understand the challenges schools face and become part of the solution.  By developing a closer relationship with parents, student achievement improves and the school develops a positive reputation in the community.

Who is in the PTA?

The members of the PTA consist solely of parents of students currently enrolled at the ISM, the entire faculty and school administration.  Membership is automatic and everyone is eligible to be nominated or elected to serve as officers of the PTA.  The officers of the 2012-2013 PTA include:

• The Executive Committee members who recommend the policy and general direction of the PTA.
• The Grade Liaison Officers for each grade level, who facilitate communication between parents, teachers and school administrators and help in organizing class activities.
• The Standing Committee who organizes the great number of varied activities throughout the year.
