Integrity - Service - Merit
Greetings! Welcome and welcome back to the ISM campus for SY 2017-2018.
I am Simran Uttamchandani, President of the Parent Community Association (PCA) at ISM. The PCA is a not-for-profit organization run by 36 ISM parent volunteers including an executive committee. We always welcome more help and support from the broader parent community. As an ISM parent you are automatically a member of the PCA and membership is free.
We aim to support you through a variety of events and we are excited about the programs we have planned for the coming year. In August we hold the first event of the year, Bearcat Welcome (Back!). This event hosts a variety of companies and organizations to help you acclimate to living in the Philippines. Keep an eye out for information about “Parent Meet and Greet” coffees and lunches. These events help introduce new parents to the community, and give returning parents a chance to make new friends. Highlighting a few favorite events that we run: Holiday Bazaar near the end of 2017, and in early 2018 “International Night,” where ISM families showcase their home country’s culture and cuisine. Twice a year we host staff and faculty appreciation events, and we support clubs and IASAS events throughout the year.
As part of our PCA mission, we also try to support the service learning goals of the school – a signature feature of ISM – by organizing and funding “Renovate to Educate”, where parents and children work together to renovate classrooms in low-income school districts.
In collaboration with ISM’s development center, the PCA this year will support a new speaker series to take up topics of special interest for parents, such as dealing with competition in sports, the challenges of learning science and promoting healthy minds.
You can find the PCA office on the 2nd floor, near the ES offices. Usually some of us are there, working on events, or having a chat. Please come in and say hello.
That’s probably enough for now. Welcome, welcome back, and let us know how the PCA can help you.
On behalf of the entire team,
PCA President 2017-2018
