Integrity - Service - Merit
The Libraries function as the information center of the school. They aim to support and enrich the whole school curriculum and to empower students through information literacy so they may become problem-solvers, self-directed learners, effective communicators and responsible citizens prepared for the complexities of a multi-cultural and multi-national world. In addition, they encourage and engage students in reading, viewing and listening for understanding and enjoyment.
Students apply research skills in retrieving ideas and information from a variety of sources, both print and non-print including electronic databases and other technologies. Students will employ higher-order thinking skills to evaluate, organize, analyze and synthesize information and ideas for problem-solving and decision-making.
Information Research skills are introduced and reinforced through a cooperative and/or collaborative approach with classroom teachers. Librarians and teachers plan and teach together in the Libraries to ensure the development of effective research activities to support the school curriculum.
